1.Ruger GP 141 .357 Magnum 4" barrel 2.S&W 629 Classic .44 Magnum 5" barrel 3.Glock 36 .45 Auto (Tie) 3.S&W 340 PD .357 Magnum (Tie) The last two are my everyday carry,alternating on situation and mood.
My go-to gun is my .22 Colt Woodsman, made in 1956, same year I was made. I have taken more than my share of small game, dispatched snakes and rabid animals, and prevented mayhem with it. My daily carry piece is either a 1911 or a Colt Python or Diamondback. I usually have either a Ruger LCP, Keltec, or NA .22 mag in a pocket but sometimes I carry a baby Browning or Colt. I like the idea of a hide-out pistol.
My 3 guns are 1 Beretta px4 compact 9mm 2 ruger super redhawk 44 mag sporting a simmons prohunter fixed 4power scope 3 taurus 85 ultra lite 38 special with crimson trace laser and ported barrel My wife's 3 guns would be 1 sig p250 compact 9mm 2 ruger automatic 22 lr (1954) 3 kel tec p3at
Taurus PT 24/7 CDS 40 Taurus 38 special Mark III 22 Right now that all I have so they are my working guns lol
Glock 23. It's simply the best sized Glock around. I have a few 21's and 22's, but the 23 gets carried the most. Walther P22. Luckily I got a bunch of parts and magazines before the prices went up and the parts dried up. Ruger Vaquero. I point better with a SA revolver than a DA. Like my pappy said: "If you only have six bullets, hit 'em with one that will put 'em down in one shot." I guess that's why he never bought anything smaller than .41 Magnum...
Ruger LCP .380, my every day carry gun X 2yrs; replaced Browning .25 carried X 20 yrs. Colt Lightweight Commander .45 for carry when possible or feel threat higher; multiple other 1911-.45s available. Glock 20 with Glock 29 backup (both 10 mm) for when TSHF. Glock 17 & Glock 26 (9 mm) for wife, and home defence.
As a working handgun around the yard; a Ruger 22 SS with "snake shot" or 22LR gets most of the most work here followed closely by a MKI bull barrel.
1 Taurus PT1911 .45acp 2 Glock 36 .45acp 3 Taurus Model 65 .357mag revolver 4 Heritage Rough Rider .22mag/.22lr one cylinder fer each yeah I know its more than 3, but its my most reliable of handguns. The one most proven to not fail. Others I have either have a few problems or not enough rounds thru them yet to be considered Proven Reliable!!!
1. Kimber 4" 1911, my carry gun. 2. S&W 629 6" .44 Mag 3. S&W M41 .22, the finest .22 I have ever shot (and I own 3 MKII's) Kill anything that lives around here with those!
Kel Tec P-11 9mm Gold Saber 147 Gr HP (pocket carry pistol when going into town) Glock 29 10mm Buffalo Bore 180 Gr HP (always have this in the vehicle) Glock 20 10mm Double Tap 200 Gr HP (on the property carry pistol)
If given the opportunity and the choice I would choose. 1. 9mm auto, (main personal protection) with beaucoup magazines 2. .357 magnum revolver, (personal protectionand / hunting) with beaucoup speed loaders 3. .22lr / .22wmr revolver with interchangeable cylinders (Back up personal protection, hunting, training and stock slaughtering) Most of the main commonly available calibres are covered....some flexibility with sourcing ammunition.... .38special, .357 magnum, 9mm, .22lr, .22wmr...a range of custom handloads for the centrefires, ranging from full loads for manstopping down to light loads for training and propellant conservation. The centrefire projectiles can be readily handcast with salvaged lead. The .357magnum, and I think possibly the .38special, have a shotshell capability...which may be useful for hunting small game at closer ranges.
Did you see his post title: "If given the opportunity and the choice I would choose." I'd say NEGATIVE!
That is kind of what I figure. I think people in areas where firearms are severely limited or banned have a good idea on "need" vs. our more American idea which is probably what we "want". I have a lot of "want" firearms" and so its difficult for me to narrow down "needs". By asking a guy that can only have a few total firearms or no firearms, you may get a better answer. This question wasn't that tough because it only dealt with handguns and I get 3 options. I really dislike the "if you could only have 2 FIREARMS" or the dreaded "only ONE". People in places with none or already restricted to 2-3 can throw out answers without a doubt because they are already living with what they need.
1. Taurus PT92. I have had this pistol for over 10 years, and thousands of rounds and it has never let me down. 2. Ruger Single Six .22lr/.22WMR. Varmints, snakes, etc. I have probably used this gun around the ranch more than any other. 3.Ruger Blackhawk .44 Mag 4 5/8"bbl. If I need more power than this is it. I have lots of other pistols, but if I had to pick just 3 those three would be it.
I'll narrow it to the 3 I usually keep with me 24/7... lol.. Taurus Judge 2.5" 410/.45 LC S&W 686+ 7 Shot .357 ( Performance Center Model ) Kel Tec P32 .32 ACP
