Your Picture of the day.

That picture was taken the day before I left the cabin in late Oct. I figured they were still moving around looking for that last meal or two. That black there looks pretty healthy, should make it through the winter just fine.

That same camera had moose tracks 5 feet all in front of it but no picture of the moose. ???

That is very common with game cameras. If the game is very close, it will often be past the camera before the camera triggers.
You might check to see if it has a plot watcher setting. If so, it would take pics based on trigger and take a pic every so many minutes by timer. It means a lot of empty frames to scan through, but you see a lot more activity than just those that trigger the sensor.

Looks like your irrigation system is working exceedingly well.

 

So, at the High Desert Museum they told me that they have those hair gathering gadgets they use with cameras. They now have reason to believe the animals are avoiding the cameras because they are picking up hair samples from species they thought were extinct in the area. Critters can be so amazing, or maybe we just think too much of ourselves.

 

They also have pics of cats that should not be where they are....

Had to trim back the alder branches on my trail. So far I have 4.5 miles done. 20 more to go. It wasn't trimmed back last year and I'm tired of getting whipped and poked as I navigate the trail.



It was 5 degrees today and lightly snowing. The trail weaves through the hills to the north before cutting back west then south.

It looks like we are neighbors. I see them regularly near I-17 just north of where I live at present.
