Heh. So far. 13 men posted to this thread. And only one woman, the OP. Not too sure how useful it's going to be for the ladies. Chelly hit the jackpot for skirts and open carry, but while not bad, methinks the name of the game is concealed.

Far be it for me to ague with an admin mod, the thread header makes no particular distinction....it just says.....Women-how to carry firearms.

True, some of the persons posting to the thread have chosen to follow that course, but concealed carry wasn't an imperative. Similarly it just says Women - How to Carry Firearms....it doesn't preclude men from doing the demonstrating....the thread header can be inferred as women being informed...it does not explicitly indicate that the gender doing the demonstrating or instructing has to be a woman....because frankly....seeing chicken leg concealed carry methods is probably of far less interest to the women who don't conform to that physique, than for the men who gawk at it for eye candy value. What is the essential difference between concealed or open carry between a kilt or mini kilt, and a long skirt or a miniskirt? Allow the women here, rather than the men say what they prefer.....

Admittedly the jocks jumping the trench are somewhat off topic, so am prepared to shift that pic to the motivational posters thread...but if the women want to keep just a little eye candy as well....well the thread is about and for women....;)

Probably better off if we let the women pick their own eye candy and don't thread crap it if they do...

Yeah, it's probably past time to stop trying to be helpful. We are not as successful at "helping" as might be wished.

Train until it is pure reactions. However, it is a lot harder in a civilian world.

Believeit or not, that came from...

Tikka makes a good point about training, though training to a level of unconscious competence ought to be the goal with every survival skill. The right reactions in the relevant circumstances towards the right outcomes.

"Fight as you train / train as you fight" is also a good aphorism, particularly when applied to refresher training, the more realistic the better, (within the bounds of safety and the resources available to provide the training experience). Where I might part company with that particular aphorism, is in the initial "micro" and "macro" skills training of the weapon system being trained upon. In that case, realistic scenarios are not so important. Training skills sequentially, in a logical progression, until confidently bedded down and mastered, is the foundation for preparing students to react appropriated to scenarios in simulated environments....once that level of competency has been attained, then its a matter of maintaining the skill, and being kept sharp by being exposed to a variety of novel training environments and situations.

Without a doubt "Fight as you train / train as you fight is a good mindset to adopt. It might just be a life saver when lethal force situations arise.

One book I read, on the psychology of survival, included an anecdote where the deaths of several LEOs in the course of their duties revealed that the deceased officer had one or two loose rounds in their pocket when searched for personal effects. The answer to this curiosity was that in the course of the officer's training, the officers were required to remove one round from the revolver cylinder for safety purposes at the range. The Officer's had become so ingrained into this practice by this procedurally repetitious practice, that when lethal force situations arose, that particularly well rehearsed reaction to a gun empty IA, was the death of them. That LEO department apparently subsequently changed that practice. Some reactive behaviours may not be good ones to perpetuate.

Training resources that some women might find useful can be found at Gun Training for Women . One observation that they make is that women don't necessarily need female instructors, but that a training organisation/range that does have female instructors is an indicator that the company running the training is eager to meet the needs of its women clientele.

Another resource for finding female focussed fire arms training organisations. I have no association with any of the organisations listed and have no recommendations concerning particular organisations. Women's shooting and self defense courses
