    Do you know anything about Vertical Axis Wind Turbines?
    'They' say they are more efficient, but even if that's true I've never seen a commercial sized rig.

    We changed a Generator Christmas Eve 5:00 am to 9:00 pm start to finish back on line running, 4 degs F.

    BAN THE BIRD CHOPPING MACHINES!! :lol: (Damn bird huggers. A clutch (or brake?) failed in a 5 knot breeze up in NY recently, and a machine oversped. A blade hit the column and crashed the machine. The greenies came out ---)

    Brittle failure on the driving/driven side. For a first guess, a metallurgy problem that will be throughout the gear, that just happened to be the one that went first. Lucky the busted off pieces didn't get into the rest of the teeth, might have been a rather abrupt stop. (Or did it?)
