I'm proud to call myself a monkey. I'm proud to be a member with a group of the greatest people on god's green Earth, I have learned allot since joining, and even though I have even got sideways with one or to ( broker most recently) I respect, each and everyone of you, broker included(joking brother). I hope to be a fountain of knowledge,in the near future, even at 45 yrs old I'm still learning, and thats what life is, a series of opportunities to learn, when you think you know everything you become one of the so called intellectual elites that are driving this bus straight to hell. In this new year may god protect us all.
I think the decision to keep the Survival Monkey name was the right one. It just fits. (we had discussed changing the name of the site some time back).
Proud to be a Monkey. Thank you all for the community, kindness, wisdom, and knowledge. I hope my contributions help before the SHTF. If it does, Texan Monkeys will keep the borders open if anyone needs a new country. =)
Thanks. Have to start downloading all the manuals and such again. My hard drive took a crash and lost all information. Will print and bind it this time as a backup.
For me, being a Monkey is about gaining maintaining an edge on survival and preparation. It is a poke in the ribs to get me going on projects instead of acting like I have all the time in the world. It is about sharing my thoughts and contributing the evolution of said projects to the knowledge base, what little I can, in the hope someone else will get a better idea, get off the couch or show me the error of my ways. I love being a Monkey! Or Turtle! Whatever!!!
Monkeys are found in all shapes and sizes. Monkeys help each other. Monkeys are willing to help their neighbors. Or comfort a friend. They'll even watch the neighbors kids for you. Monkeys don't like time wasted in meetings. Most of all, monkeys like to have fun !
I suppose it's different for every Monkey, and to define what it means can only best be determined with the self definition we choose and the application of the principles we adopt or are comprised of. I like to think we adhere to the better ideals on our daily course, and even at our worst, we may be persuaded to recognize our good nature so as to promote the efficacy of our resolve. On a personal note, my goals have always been solidified by a clear motive and conscience of thought brought on by the challenges we must all come to face sooner or later. With as many lies and deceptions as there are in the world today, having a place to archive our journey and stand as testament to all that we do can be an asset worthy of praise. In recognition of who I choose to be, and to an equal extent, by all those who comprise the SM family, it's critically important to remember that we are united by common cause --to learn, teach, and sometimes inspire. No matter which role we choose to adopt, it is the civility in all we do and the effort of sharing information which partly defines us; the only thing worse than wasted talent is unrecognized potential. Therefore, the rest of our nomenclature will always be determined by that which has not yet been written, as it rests somewhere within the magnificent folds of our minds, waiting to be unlocked and shared with the world. This forum is the key.
For me its enough to know there are others out there willing to help and share ideas. I am not normally a joiner, but I became part of this group and I am glad I did. The wide variety of knowledge, skills and willingness to help is not common elsewhere. I have learned alot and hope I can return the favor from time to time.
