@Kamp Krap I like your style. I sort of miss how easy it is to travel in the continental U.S. I didn't really discover how much I dislike flying until I was on my way here and then I realized how isolated these islands really are. I'm thankful that it's been a decent place to be. Your essentials are a good starting point for me. Thank you!
Yes, I definitely want to go minimalist. Thank you so much for sharing brightline bags. I like the fact that they are also backpacks.
Also, in the event that the overhead bins are full you can place a soft-sided bag or backpack under the seat in front of you, provided that they are small enough. I heard a few announcements telling passengers that they would HAVE to check their carry-on bags as they were running out of room in the overhead compartments, thankfully none were for my flights.
@kckndrgn Thank you for sharing your recent experience with flying. It sounds like lots of good news to me. I would love it if I don't have to take my laptop out of the bag. Your post helped me decide that I'm going to bring a backpack.
You are a pro traveler! Thank you so much for sharing. You mentioned a lot of things that I didn't think about bringing like instant coffee, a sewing kit, and nail clippers. I really appreciate you sharing your essentials with me, Hanzo. I'm also glad that you mentioned the wool cap. I'm probably going to have to get some more layers once I arrive. I've been so spoiled with the warm weather that we have over here. Happy traveling and Aloha!
Thank you for sharing this! I like how organized he is. I think I've decided to bring a backpack (a much smaller profile that I've ever traveled with before) and my trusty cross body purse (the only purse I've used since 2016.) I like how this guy folded his hat so small.
You are a light traveler and it sounds like you're still able to pack in so many essentials! I'm very impressed!
@Seawolf1090 It sounds like you need specialty items. I think there are probably many advantages to being big and tall, but you do have to arrive prepared. I'm 4'11" so I can usually find most things, but reaching them on tall shelves can be a challenge.
This made me laugh! I love it. I probably won't be able to fit a full sized towel into my backpack. Uh-oh.
@hot diggity Really? I don't blame you for preferring home to international travel. I'll feel quite vulnerable without my usual supplies.
@Seawolf1090 Thank you for your service. I'm glad you got to have some good times and adventures during your Navy days. It sounds like such a hardcore branch from the stories I've heard. My partner was an FC in the Gator Navy. I'm very thankful that we have people like you who have kept our country safe.
I travel in hey dudes shoes, cargo shorts, and a t-shirt. Carry on: I 100% agree on the dirty clothes bag. Socks and baby wipes are a must. Duplicate chargers for all the electronics. A lighter to make fire. Headlamp. A few hundred dollars cash. Laptop, phone, other crap you need for work if all the check baggage disappeared for a week. A light jacket. Sweat pants. Hiking boots. Watch cap. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Check baggage: Clothes, tools, toiletries, all the normal stuff.
Gamcha rolls up to the size of a soda can, but is a full size towel that dries really fast. And in a pinch, I can wear it.
Here's the gamcha info I posted before: Shemagh vs gamcha When NxN was around, I bought their wool kerchief. One of those lives in my backpack. I have it rolled up in a large ziplock. That goes to the bottom of my laptop sleeve since the bottom is not padded. And I have busted it out when I got cold. And used little red riding hood style in the rain as well as when it is a little cold. A hood and cape configuration.
