That guy has a pair to be that close to a fast moving fire.

 

Couldn't watch the video with the farmer, but was he trying to save as much of his harvest as possible?

@BTPost, yes it's the envirowacko's fault. Heaven forbid we select harvest some of the dead and dying timber, lets just wait for a forest fire to come along, then bitch about how its spreading so fast and there's nothing we can do about it.

 

Judging from the direction of the smoke the fire is burning against the prevailing wind...therefore it would not be moving as fast as running with the wind. Even so, the risk is that if the wind changes direction towards him, he might be in a spot of bother.

Looking at the flame height, and that the fuel consists of grass/crops, if there was a change of wind direction, his best option would be to drive into the burnt area. His cabin would protect him from the radiant heat until he got to a safe spot in the burnt area. A forest fire, or where the fuel loading per metre squared is much higher...possibly a different story.
