It's for his "Go To Hell" plan 1.0. If he can't get out of town in the Deuce and a half he has a 1980(ish) 3/4 ton Chevy Pickup (GHT2.0 stenciled on the rear bumper).

In my dreams I would add at least a high top shell with a roof rack. After living in this truck I think I might prefer an older Cherokee or Suburban since they are more enclosed, probably stay a little warmer in the winter.

Tracker? Had one as a company car. Not my fave, but the price was right for a 60 mile commute on 128 even if it tended to swap ends in the least slippy conditions.

My 3/4 ton 1895 suburban. It's carbureted, bored and stroked from a 7.4L out to a 8L, high compression, roller cam conversation, be tie aluminum heads, headers, exhaust cutouts. Extensivly modified and tuned for fuel economy during cruise and full power when the gas is mashed. I figure it's not worth a damn if it only gets 8 or 10 mpg on the highway.

Hm. And I remember the first suburbans to hit the road. IIRC they were generically called "carryalls."

1895, well that beats my '65 Power Wagon. Blew the 318 so I put in a Cummins turbo diesel and a 5 speed.

In 1895 didn't they just call it a covered wagon? Which reminds me of the "Emberverse" book series by S. M. Stirling where the power goes out in a big way (supernatural, anything "high energy" does...not...work) and some Ren Faire folk hit the bricks in a museum covered wagon (think it was a museum piece). Methinks you'd want to be heading out early because you aren't outrunning much in a wagon and anyone who sees you is gonna come running.

The suburban is pretty much a modern day steel covered wagon. That's a really good way to think of it.
I'm just glad some one noticed my typo.
