I used to use it for adding flavor to plug tobacco. I'd bore 3/4" holes in a birch log, and then poke green tobacco alternated with a few drops of molasses into the holes. Tamp it down nice and tight with a dowel and a mallet until each hole was nearly filled. Pound a wood plug in the holes and set the log aside to dry. Once the log was dried out, carefully split the wood and harvest the nice tasty plugs of chewing tobacco.
