Yeah, yeah I know. But it took me years to "aquire" the taste for the stuff. I am a scotch virgin, be gentle. Baby steps!
I have always been a Bourbon man and always will be, but I am expanding my horizons. Plus on my side of the world Scotch is as easy to get as water and Bourbon is as scarce as an honest man in congress.
I had to look up Woodinville whisky... There are two wineries and a brew company all within walking distance. I would have to have a designated driver if I went there
So having lived overseas the last several years I was smoking only Cuban cigars. Mostly Cohiba Magicos. But having recently returned stateside, and not able to easily find Cubans, I have found a new favorite. Davidoff Late Hour Davidoff Winston Churchill The Late Hour | JR Cigars Davidoff Winston Churchill The Late Hour is a luxurious ultra-premium brand named for one of the most celebrated cigar lovers in history. Been a while since this thread got re-booted so thought I would relate my week's experiences. My son-in-law, who is part owner in a brewery, is also somewhat of a whiskey guy. That being he joined a whiskey club a few years ago, has a collection and has made a couple trips to Tennessee for distillery tours. So this week while he and the family were here for Thanksgiving, he wanted to browse the local liquor stores to see what might be on the shelf. Here is what he found... Blanton's Single Barrel at $45 For me it was a little hot but had some sweetness up front. I would buy a bottle if they had another, but they didn't. AND This one was nice.. The proof was higher than the stolen off the internet pic above but the caramel on the first sip was amazing. Thus ended my indoctrination into barrel proof whiskeys and I am now hooked. I did buy and try a bottle of Dickel 12 which is a nice sipper as well, just don't pour it over ice or add water as it is fine just as it is.
Not a drinker, but learned to love a single malt years ago. Like a good Cuban Belinda, it ruins all others for you.
While down South, well South of the 48th, I managed to score... My bottle was hand filled from a single select barrel. My SIL is a member of a whiskey club that toured the Buffalo Trace Distillery.
