There seem to be several types of quality that have importance. (to me)
    1. the best one can afford in all these areas,
    2. areas that are shared among family and or companions,
    3. Expendables that are used as Barter or buried for emergency access if all else is lost.
    4. things of a limited lifespan, inevitable decay. i.e. gasoline.
There are long term provisions like seed and soil treatments and provisions for reclaiming water and rain water including testing and grading said water for it's intended uses. I include several means of treatment and filtration. No one means is necessarily appropriate.
Aquaponics requires fish to cycle the water in gardening, an eco-system in itself.
I did a micro system to learn on, but I have seen mid size systems that were quite impressive.
Hydroponics require a lot of special handling, and special equipment, where as aquaponics requires very little.
No matter the style of gardening one does, guarding from thieves of all sorts is an issue.
