Not putting much up right now due to lack of money and the green beans are not coming in fast enough. Two quart bags of beans in the freezer yesterday. The Sweet corn is doing much better and looking like Ill be freezing a bunch of that here in a couple days.

Thinking that a Montana/Wyoming trip to national parks is next year, WA/OR isn't that much further ;).
Wonder if the fam can Iron Butt it? Last time I was there it was 30 hrs from Seattle to Bemidji MN non stop @ 55mph ('cept for food, gas) in a 4 cyl. Ford Fairmont with AM Radio and no AC in August mostly down US2. Next time? Gas guzzling 4x4 towing a camper.

I canned 13 quarts of stewed tomatoes and 13 jars of Jardiniere (recipe from Ball Book) It is like a hot mix.

I went out in the garage to take a picture and 6 had not sealed. So, I now have them back on the stove in a water bath.

We traded some cantaloupe for watermelon. We seem to be the only ones around here that have good luck with cantaloupe. So, we trade for corn, watermelon, etc. We bought some pork shoulder on sale to can later.

Yes, Ganado, it is a pickled garden mix with yellow squash, hot peppers , bell peppers(yellow, green, orange, red)
I did not have any cauliflower at the time, so it was not in it. But, it is very easy, and you can use up all your extra veggies. It is really pretty in the jar too.

Cash in the safe for the final Walmart trip. Four #10 cans each of freeze dried onions, sweet corn, green beans and broccoli. Expensive calories. But the wife can see herself having a veggie smoothie after the event. I told her we would all be on the ultimate diet but it makes her happy with my other preps (for a while).

Tobit, I enjoy reading the posts on downsizing in different forums. But I have to ask what may be a stupid question: why non-plastic? Are you worried about the heat melting the plastic, EMP-related, or trying not to buy anything new, or something else?
    Thanks!
