So what did you put away this week?

Added more rice, oatmeal, and pasta to our food stores. I'm not counting the dried cherries, because mom is eating them like candy so I don't think they'll last long. And Tuesday someone came and took all our old appliances away, plus some scrap metal, so now we have more space in the yard for 'edible landscaping'. They're coming back Saturday for more.

 

Bah...the people didn't show up or call today(or answer their phone), but the neighbor's horse mowed our lawn and gave us more fertilizer in the process.

 

New LCRx .38 Special +P.....200 rounds of .38 Special JHP and 5-6 Rapala and Rebel lures for $2.00 a piece.

 

Picked up my maximum 3 box limit of .22 LR today. $2.78 a box. Will try for more tomorrow.......

 

Today I got 4 bush cherry seedlings from someone a couple streets over. About 4 more left, but I wanted to get home and rest, I can dig them up tomorrow. They have a HUUUUGE bush cherry 'shrub', and some grew right up against the water meter box, courtesy of the birds dropping the seeds there. So I asked the owner if I could have the babies by the meter box, and they said Okay. Very happy since the nursery catalogs, they won't ship bush cherries to Oregon, dunno why, but it's a no-no. And getting them from a neighbor is even better, since I know it's acclimatized to this area. And I'm having another neighbor pick us up 2 cases(12packs) of quart canning jars on sale when they go to town tomorrow.

 

Some goodies in mylar bags. I love filling those bags w/stuff. It makes me feel more secure.

The weekly local congregate meal usually has stuff from the food bank for the attendees to take(but not get greedy with), and today they had one of the boxes had a bunch of cream cheese in it, so I got 4 cartons. I took 2 at first, but then they said no one could leave until all the goodies were gone. So I got 2 more cream cheeses, some apples, 2 packages of croissants, and some onion'd hamburger buns, and some pierogies(we had them for dinner). And then went to mail off some bills, stopped at a friend's on the way, and they had a bunch of clothes for us to look through, so we got lots of jeans mostly, I didn't mind that some were a little too big, because I can wear them in winter with my PJs underneath since jeans alone don't keep my legs warm enough. Ended up with a trash bag full of new to us clothes. And they gave us some of their homegrown organic spinach and radishes too. And one of those pre-packaged no bake dessert mix things(chocolate cream pie!).

Between last week and this weeek 12 plumrose canned hams went into the pantry.

This week was "fix and replace" week it seems. We got hit by a storm last weekend and this week we got to get the central a/c fixed (blown capacitors), replace the window unit in the supply building (just blown), and order parts for the UPS we run our computer equipment through (more capacitors.) It's a good thing the garden is coming in or there wouldn't be anything "put by" this week. Yellow squash in the dehydrator now and then it's a couple of loads of jalapeno peppers.

Actually I also store maple syrup. I have some friends who sugar.

 

We got some bacon from a neighbor. They made a boo-boo when they went shopping, got thick slices, and they wanted thin. So they gave us the thick slices. Mom don't like bacon, so this is all MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE! And we found 2 kitties outside this morning, no idea where they came from. One looks like it injured its left eye(well left if they're facing me) and when it healed, it healed the eye shut pretty much. I want to give the one-eyed kitty a pirate name.
