curious why would you start them on canning.... which isnt easy if you dont know what you are doing or havent learned from someone..... vs having them start gathering supplies for 2 month, 6 months etc?

just wondering what your thinking is @Modus Operandi

  4. One, already been harping that subject, tired of beating that dead horse. Two, canned foods were in short supply in their area or you could only purchase a limited number of a type (limit 4) and for a family of four that limits your caloric intake. Third, canning isn't that difficult if you can read a book and follow instructions, or watch a YouTube video and that they can do. Fourth, it gives them something physical to do while self quarrantining that the whole family can help with and spend time together instead of on the internet or watching muddied tv. Fifth, it teaches them a new life skill. Sixth, they eat healthier. Seventh, they can save money in the long run. Shall I continue to enumerate?

good thinking... love the 'keeping them occupied' part lol

you are right canning isnt difficult but not poisoning yourself does require some precision.

  6. That IS true, but the person doing the majority of the work makes any overbearing, micromanaging, pennypinching, OCD, government accountant look like an amateur. Not too worried about them poisoning themselves. Now if it were the husband, well...

After years of a weed infested raised bed, my daughter and son-in-law have cleared the plot and planted a vegetable garden this spring.

The virus will be forgotten about in 2 years and virtually everyone will go back to doing what they have always done.
Look at the September 11 attacks by 2008 we had self loathing liberal loosers trying to convince us the attacks were our fault and saying that we deserved it.

And just like that the advantages of just living in a zip code where the average population density is about 30 ass holes per square miles shines.
