@Hanzo you're a better man... er... Monkey than me.... I would never use a pink knife ... well depends who gave it to me and if it was the only one I had....
Check around at the local marine repair or a buddy who does his own repair. Get a replaced throttle/shift control cable. Cut it at one end, behind the attachment slide, and pull out the core wire. 10-20 ft. stainless wire heavy enough for many uses and usually free.
Hmmm, seems I have a roll of stainless wire laying out in the west pasture. I left it there several years ago when it curled up and bit me. Must be 14 gauge or so, about a thousnad feet and weighs around 75 lbs. Gotta go take a picture someday and post.
So'k, Granpa died at 90 and grandma died a year later. Still have their aluminum pots. Then again they had a cistern so there water was super pure to start. Aluminum does funny things when mixed with other things, this fact often left out or not considered in "research".
You ever have 75 pounds of ss wire unwind on you? Once bitten, well It'll be OK till I get back. The cattle give it a wide berth. I think I hit it about 3 times with a .45, at least till it stopped moving.
Thanks @Brokor and @kellory simple solution from a simple mind wanted to keep it easy but tough... sometimes simple is the hardest to come up with so I really appreciate the comments... Simple minded Bear
Yup @kellory Took some pics for folks on dial up.... the video in my post #33 above is better on how it works and how stable it is given that it may not look like much to most folks .... but the way it works with the handles and the slight angle is the key to keeping it solid when hanging.... especially since the standard USGI canteen cup doesn't have a curled lip ... and I wanted it to work with the lid to make cooking and boiling faster... I'm pretty happy with how it came out.... Thanks again... Bear
