Savage has the A22, as far as 22wmr auto long guns go. The 10/22mag had a bad habit of blowing up. Ruger recalled them, but didnt get them all. Now they are really expensive and have a weird cult following. The after market fix was to add mass to the bolt.
22lr vs 22wmr vs 17hmr 22lr is 22lr it will keel if given long enough. Gel testing pretty much have the same results as my water jug tests. 22wmr FMJ just goes straight through. 22wmr hollow point did some damage, no surprise as my step brother very cleany killed 4 or 5 deer with one. 17hmr FMJ was interesting, deep penetration and damage, I found this on the milk jug test too it would usually go through one milk jug, explode the second one then go straight though the third one. 17hrm hollow point, a lot like my self. Only goes in about 6 inches on a good day and just tears shit up.
