Don't make candy bacon. I haven't made any in three years and still get hounded about it all year long.
I know a guy who can cook anything with a grill or deep fryer who can't master the art of making candy bacon. There must be some trick to it. Let me know how you like it. Candy Bacon: preheat oven to 400° line baking sheet with foil (PARCHMENT PAPER WORKS BETTER) place a wire rack on top and coat with cooking spray stir together; 3 tbsp brown sugar 2 tbsp chopped pecans (or walnuts 2017) 1 1/2 tsp black pepper rub this mixture on top of 12 slices of thick bacon place on rack with sugar side up bake for 22 - 25 minutes. (VARIES WITH OVEN) let stand 5 minutes before serving Or... Make one batch with nuts and one batch nut-less. Preheat oven to 400°. place bacon on rack as above for 15 min. remove and flip while coating with brown sugar/pepper slurry. (just a little water makes a nice paste) Repeat at 5 min intervals for 30-35 min total time in oven. Try not to eat one batch before the next is done.
