An old navy Chief told me a story about when he was a teenager waiting tables in a Greek restaurant in New York. The lady that owned the place was upset because the girls that cleaned the dining area never cleaned under the tables. His advice was "Throw some pennies under the table, with an occasional dime or quarter." A week later the restaurant owner bought him a beer and said the space under the tables was now spotless every night because of his trick.
Navy Chiefs always know the tricks, and give the best advice! My old Seniorchief was like that. Smartest man I knew. RIP, Seniorchief Neil K. Normandin.
Our sales department isn't beyond using superstition to sell cars. They call it "seeding the lot." They strategically place a few heads up pennies in the parking lot where a buyer is likely to "find" them. "Oh look Archie, it's a penny, and it's heads up. You know what that means Archie? It's your lucky day." If you heard Edith Bunker, that was intentional. So was the lucky penny.
