The cheapest 2x4 I can find is a Douglas furr for $2.33 each, of course never available in my area. The cheapest available right now for me is about $5, I'm sure because of the ridiculously high diesel prices. I need to find somewhere that sells these mythical two dollar 2x4 and get a pickup load of them. I bet they're on the east cost. The furthest east I might in theory drive the Dodge Dakota is I-44. Probably will only ever go as far east as I-27.
Douglas FIR FOR 2.33 EACH IS A DEAL that's a strong stud , many cougars around here like to climb those !! Sluth
Looks like about $4 for an eight foot 2x4 after sales tax is here to stay as long as we have high diesel prices. So looking back, selling those 2x4s from 2 years later still a good move.
Lumber futures way down. But it will take a while to get that over priced lumber out of the supply system with slow sales.
Well interest rates are high and people can hardly affird to build or do home renovations. Lowes and home depot sales are way down. This is what it looks like when the economy starts shitting the bed.
Sounds like an excuse to go look for shit on clearance at Lowes. I know I've been blasted with advertisements from harbor freight lately.
I went and picked up a bunch of rugged 27 gallon plastic totes with lids at Lowe's for $10 each, and the very same damn thing is selling for $15 at Wal-Mart just across the same parking lot. Plus, Lowe's has a reserved Veteran parking spot in front, so this was an easy decision to make. Lumber prices won't drop much until we see a change in the housing market -and that's not gonna happen without serious changes allowing mega corporations to continue buying up property. It's all a scam to force Americans out of ownership and into renting. More people are defaulting on loans today more than ever, and more Americans are in debt now more than ever during a failing economy.
Cheapest 2x4x96 inch board at Lowes in my area is a "spruce pine fir" for $3.24. 10% off if you buy 100 and take all the unusable, warped to hell, knotted up, cracked through shit too.
