It is, but tango3's goal seems to be getting a lower cost long range tool. His original method via enfield limits him to the .303 round. I went off topic and suggested a savage as an alternative that would still be low cost but give him a choice of calibers. Perhaps easier to find calibers at that. The rest was just to support the suggestion and to counter act the "low cost = low quality" perception that fortunately does not seem to apply to savage rifles (to a degree).
