Re: AC....I'm thinking of a window unit(s) or maybe a swamp cooler. Our season out there as of now is from late September to early May, and it would be nice to extend that sometimes.....summer is probably impossible, but a few extra weeks would be nice.....And of course if there ever were a SHTF event, this is our ultimate BOL, so we can't have any Earthquakes, EMP's, etc in the summer:)
It's not just the heat (120+ in the summer), it's almost more the lack of humidity, get's down real close to 0% RH at times and that will kill you quick, or make you sick.......

I just put up a wind mill and it generates power but I am not super impressed. During the day it is no match for my solar panels but I like that it does work at night. I read somewhere that unless the wind regularly rearranges you lawn furniture wind power is probably not the best option.

If you had meters on your individual panels you'd see variations of performance in each one depending one clouds and dirt accumulation .
I have several panels older than many kids here, still producing , I don't condemn them due to their poor performance so long as they are making a contribution .
My wind mill here at this location is never going to see a 100 mile an hour wind but 10s and 20 s still give me something more than what I would have had, not having the mill.
I built it on my shop trailer along with my solar panels so that if/when I move they all come with me.
These are not in investment in the house ,some fallowing owner may or may not appreciate.
It is an investment in my own future, and my children's future they can take with them .

Yep, I been thinkin about this.....certainly lots of wind out there. Gotta do some research....might be easier to just add more panels what with the 365/7 sun supply....Although you are right, they will pump power to the batteries while the sun is down..

ON this AC volt out of the inverter , You have two legs of 120 Vac , So have you balanced the draw ? If not , time will expire quicker !!!

Conext SW Solar Hybrid Inverter 120/240V | SE Solar

You need to install a mini split in SEER 22 + and have it set to come on when Float is reached & the do a retrip so the DHW system comes on line after 10 Mins , then your in a real harvest !!! don't waste daylight ( LIKE MANY )to all do

Another 75 miles or so NE, actually closer to Kingman - mountainous terrain, about 5100 ft. Not quite so hot but nearly as dry. Lots of thick brush and some pines, junipers.

A few 40 - 80 acre and larger lots for sale in the area if you're interested :).

    Funky software here :

So the balance is if in split legs .
    What was your response?

Are you using both legs & center tapping ?

Sloth - Here was my previous response, got in another reply by mistake....

I have not utilized the 240V aspect of the inverter yet, I'm just running 120 for basic house stuff.....I just barely got this done before our season ended :)

Good idea....I'll need to discuss this further, as I said, I'm just starting to wrap my head around the whole solar thang and this seems a bit advanced...?

ON Seer & float off info , etc. PM me a # to pick my brain .I call 4 free ( Main job has free calling world wide) .
All free ,just info , when ya plan RE well , many learn & help others .

I think Ideally $ aside, it would be prudent to have and inverter for each appliance one intends to use with solar .
In this way ,if there is a failure in an appliance, the whole system isn't in jeopardy .

That makes a huge different wire setup . NOT WRONG , BUT not the norm , and A good plan thinking ! Code is not writing for this thought !
I'm having words with builders & so called electricians , ( DUMB FUCKS ) .. draw /lay the wire for later upgrades (not 12/2 but 10/3 )
I'm the payer & builder . I'll do a trump next negative lip service (fucking KIDS) have no idea.
I'm so old in this !! NEXT !

I entered this thread expecting to see the sun and planets painted on the ceiling, but to my surprise there's another definition for "solar system".

Good one....I thought that as I wrote it....but what else do ya call it?

True, and it's in the Off-Grid Living forum, which ought to raise awareness. Alas, I am no stranger to solar technology, but my bearings while browsing do tend to meander a bit. I was thinking of adding "PV" to the title, but it's really not important because of the location on the forum. ;)

Brokor, dreaming with his head in the clouds again, thinking of far away places and incredible possibilities on the horizon...
