Well I got a second similar to the previous one I shared but this time i've washed out the serrated edge ,it was just too aggressive and now it's much better without it. It's spring assisted and very handy working around the property. Where it really comes in handy is while weed whacking and removing debris that bind up the head. Wearing gloves and operating a pocket knife every few minuets needs this spring assist advantage. If your ever on a ladder and holding on with one hand the other is doing the work , spring assist is necessary . A fixed blade is more practical in many applications like this, but wearing a fixed blade in town ,these liberals get bent out of shape.
Gerber Prodigy Survival Knife, Serrated Edge, Black [22-41121] - Fixed Blade Tool Knives - Amazon.com We went with these for our patrol packs. Sharp, quality baldes. Nice secure scabbards.
I've only figured two possibly interesting uses for serrated blades, those being seatbelt or other fibrous straps, and synthetic ropes. Very good to have in the glove box or the boat kit. I have no use for a serrated edge in pocket or pack, I've found a decent edge on a pocket knife will do if the specialty tools are inaccessible. YMMV. (Well, there IS my bread knife in the kitchen.)
