That time of year again!

 

I had a black rotary phone on my desk at work when I was in an office job for a few years. I had to call Headquarters Marine Corps on a daily basis and almost never got through on the first ten tries. It got to where I would sit at the window and smoke a cigar while I dialed v-e-r-y.... s-l-o-w-l-y, hoping I could catch a lucky gap between all the other callers. I got one call through after many attempts, heard someone answer "Lunch Time." and hang up. I soooo wanted to get in my car and drive up there and hunt that knucklehead down!

Two other quick tricks I learned were to mumble your name so nobody could be sure it was you when you did the next trick. "Oh, yes Sir, let me transfer you to Corporal Click." ... CLICK!
