Andy,,,,I miss a lot of stuff sometimes,,,and don't always read between the lines . But I believe this post is more or less directed to ole Chelloveck. Ole Chell likes to ruffle the feathers of some of us here in the US of A . And no disrespect intended here ,,,but ,,, when a foreigner starts criticizing us ,,,, especially when they are almost always on the other side of the fence from the majority of us here ,,,well,,,,,,,it kind of makes a person want to go pound sand down the SOB's windpipe .
I for one would love , to come visit your territory , it's a place I've always wanted to visit and experience. But I would never critize your country , from here or there . I always look forward to your post , and the pictures of your countryside.

 

SB...I get that it was aimed at Chello and yes I get he draw the fire, intentionally so, but in terms we can all understand use precision fire, not a shotgun. I generally bristle when the comments are ill informed and uneducated. There are things in the US I am certainly a bit critical of as there are in my own country, I have however seen those things I find unusual, strange or wrong with my own two eyes (for those unaware I have spent more than my fair share of time travelling in the US (and not just the accepted tourist magnets) as I have friends there at each point of the compass. Many of those same friends come stay here and see my country. The truth, about both, is often quite different to that which most will read about online. Throw an uneducated generalisation at me here and I will toss it right back .. BTW - I have loved almost all my time in the US.

I have never had anyone break into my house, though undoubtedly it does happen in places in Australia, so my reply is theoretical...Nothing in my house is important enough for me to confront an intruder for....except my life and the lives of those who are resident with me. I would place barriers between myself and an intruder, dial 000 (police and ambulance), and prepare to defend myself and those with me...I am entitled to defend my person, with such force that is proportionate to the threat confronting me...and in certain circumstances, up to lethal force. As it happens, I occasionally have left doors unlocked after having left my residence, and had returned some hours later to find that the wind had blown the door wide open....nobody had to break and enter...and nothing untoward had happened. I have lived in the same residence for some 40+ years and In my neighborhood, neighbours look out for each other, even to the extent of bringing in garbage bins at times for each other after the 'garbo' had come and gone.

Obviously Australia has its share of crime and criminals....

How about homicide altogether seeing those other countries have fewer guns they do use other things including bombs.
Homicide is homicide regardless of the tool used . in which case those numbers are skewed .

 

Haven't we seen data that shows where doctors and even hammers kill more people then what gun crimes do? Even drunk driving kills more than guns.
