Why the photo story?
Well, the Nevada test site is home of 928 total nuclear tests, 828 of which were underground.

Now that Trump is the boss, he has made noise about 'upgrades' to our arsenal of nukes. This likely means back to testing. Which means - the Test site being back in business. Maybe.

On December 7, 2012 the most-recent explosion was conducted, an underground sub-critical test of the properties of plutonium. I cannot help but to point to the date. It's as if someone in the DoE was trying to send a message.

At any rate - if you ever get a chance to visit the site, and it is possible, take the opportunity. You will come away a changed person....

If not, spend some time on a search engine looking at the crater fields....

One thing Obama did right was put some damned money back into the US nuclear weapons program.
I remember reading that there was going to be lots of sub critical testing of some sorts to verify the reliability of the nuclear weapons still in inventory.
They were pretty sure that these weapons were going to work, now we know for sure that they are going to work.
The US nuclear weapons program was starving for money under bush2.

 

Using the numbers collected by FAS, the US reduced our nuclear weapons stockpile at a much faster pace under George W Bush than under President Obama, where the US cut its active weapons from over 10,000 in 2000 to just over 5,000 by the time Bush left office.
Yup.

They do run big...

 

Ive caught plenty snappers from the platforms, My largest was at 22.5 lbs
They grill really well, Scales down
Meat covered with lemon juice,butter Tonys seasoning , Sliced bell peppers,sliced onions,Black olives, Pineapple slices.
