I always wear an extra length belt , not that I anticipate growing fatter, but that I have in the past rescued a situation where the front inside wheel bearing went out in the middle of the desert, and that extra length of belt and all the grease I could find, replaced it till we got to safety and still did not heat up while in service.
A good friend in the desert bumping around, the distributer cap came loose and broke the rotor ,so he wired it back together and drove it home, and forgot about it for about a week, and it ran fine, but he replaced it any way.
I've made a lot of improvised repairs through the years.
If you know what makes things work, making parts in the boonies is possible.
There are books on these improvisations .
Some of you will love this one.
a friend was headed across the desert i the 1940s with a model A ford .in those days the road was made of wood where ever it went over sand .
Any way every 20-30 miles or so they had to stop and drop the oil pan and tighten up the connecting rods and often use bacon rind to take up the slack.
Yes bacon has another use .

Recycle/upcycle - simple items can be made into useful structures. Like a playhouse made of doors.

stripping pallets can be a lot of work, but the wood is wonderful for small playhouses.

while a commercial product, this make use of tab and slot to allow easy setup and take down for folks with limited yard space. I think this could be applied to a larger, temp, structure.

I tended not to start standing for the national anthem, until we had devised an Australian national anthem, that wasn't the national anthem of somewhere else. Now we just have to jettison the monarchy as head of state.: A virtually impossible mission without the support of the Australian Liberal/National Party coalition (the Australian right wing conservative equivalents to the GOP/Tea Party mobs)

Grey goo (also spelled gray goo) is a hypothetical end-of-the-world scenario involving molecular nanotechnology in which out-of-control self-replicating robots consume all matter on Earth while building more of themselves, a scenario that has been called ecophagy ("eating the environment", more literally "eating the habitation"). The original idea assumed machines were designed to have this capability, while popularizations have assumed that machines might somehow gain this capability by accident.

    It's nearly here!
