I went through this today. My thoughts exactly.

 

A pastor, a doctor, and a mathematician were stuck behind a slow foursome while playing golf. The greenskeeper noticed their frustration and explained to them, “The slow group ahead of you is a bunch of blind firemen. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free.”

The pastor responded, “That’s terrible! I’ll say a prayer for them.”

The doctor said, “I’ll contact my ophthalmologist friends and see if there isn’t something that can be done.”

And the mathematician asked, “Why can’t these guys play at night?”

 

It also has to be said, that there are probably as many parts of the Tanakh and Christian Bible as the Qur'an that are NOT COMPATIBLE with a civilised world....fortunately most Christians and many Jews ignore them. It's not as if those passages in the Bible are any more benign than the Qur'an, just that Christianity has been tamed somewhat (courtesy of the Renaissance, The Enlightenment, and the progressive secularisation of Western culture) whereas Islam is still in a feral state that Christianity once was.

Some have observed that Christianity has been de-clawed and is no longer the pestilential, pernicious, poisonous ideology that it once was: I consider that to be a mistaken analogy. The claws are still there, but they have mostly been filed down to mere stubs so that its clawing is not as deadly as it once was. However, where their claws have been allowed to grow back, they are fully capable of doing what ISIS does, and with as much zeal and gusto. The USA has the First Amendment establishment clause as a check to governmental entanglement with and preferencing of Christianity, Judaism, Islam and other religious isms over each other. Most countries where Islam prevails don't have that kind of bulwark against horrific theocratic control.

None of the go to verses in the Christian Bible that have been used to justify the practice of slavery, the persecution of non-hetero normative conduct, the denial of women's suffrage, the control over women's bodily autonomy, racial segregation / apartheid, racism, miscegenation, capital punishment, and religious intolerance, et al, have at all been repealed. They still stand on the books, virtually unchanged, ready and available to be re-utilised when circumstances permit. Were theists to do with the pernicious verses of the Bible, what Thomas Jefferson did with the supernatural ones, the Bible would be a very much slimmer and more benign volume.

1. 99.99% of the Christians that you know, doesn't constitute the 99.99% of Christians globally. Even if 99.99% of Christians follow the New Testament, why do they justify their pernicious behaviour by referencing proof passages in the Old Testament? Christians might like god's new stuff better than god's old stuff, but they have not utterly discarded the worst examples of god's old stuff.

Many Christians are just as ignorant of their sacred texts as many Muslims are of theirs. Adherents of both religions, pick and choose the passages that best suit their purposes, and ignore, or offer apologetics for those passages that are inconvenient or show them in a negative light.

2. Dead is dead, whether it be by scimitar or Uzi. Both sides have justified their killings based on their sacred texts, as a religious obligation. Whether or not the execution of those obligations affords any personal satisfaction is arguable from both sides.

3. Anger is no substitute for rational thinking. It usually only serves to cloud one's critical thinking abilities.

 

Q - What do you call a company of hard charging Airborne once they have landed?

A - Light infantry. Emphasis on the LIGHT.

But, fortunately most of these Airborne type dust up have another player - TACP (Tac Air Control Party) who can call for some of their friends for help..

Hillary will never be charged. Obama will not give the Whitehouse to Republicans. If by some remote chance someone in his administration still respects the Constitution enough to follow it, which is doubtful, she would never see the inside of a prison, he would pardon her.
