I had a cat which would do this to annoy the neighbors dog. Dog would bark like mad until neighbor came out to see what's up, cat would run to other side of roof until neighbor went back in, then run back over and meow to get dog's attention. Dog goes ballistic again. Neighbor comes out, cat retreats to other side of roof, neighbor smacks dog.

Lather, rinse, repeat.
