If Mittens couldn't block Obama to the Whitehouse, what is the prospect that he will be any more effective at doing so with Hillary?? As much as many distrust and despise the Clintons, The current crop of conservative contenders would seem to make Hilary's quest for the Oval Office that much easier, particularly if the joker in the pack, Donald Trump, throws his hat in the ring...yet again. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/10/u...ime-to-start-believing-donald-trump.html?_r=0

I guess Donald can always recycle his 2012 campaign buttons....with just about the same prospect of success...... ;)

You need to polish up your telescope a bit if you want to understand the political ebbs and flows from 12.000 miles away - you have a big smear on the left side of your front objective that is obscuring your view.

Trump is a clown, much like Pat Paulson's runs, and even he knows it. He's rich enough to play candidate for a while, then will get bored and go home. Romney won't get the nod, and it's a bit of a shame because he would do a pretty good job, much better than the amateur that currently occupies the oval office. Not sure if you can strike Jeb Bush yet, but if he gets the nod, Clinton wins. If wouldn't matter if Jeb could deliver the moon, the US will not send any more Bushes to the White House.

Most of the Republican candidates will fall by the wayside pretty quickly as funds dry up. There is no front runner in sight at this time.

The Democrats should be hopeful of finding a new foil to keep Clinton from getting the nod. Nobody trusts her and the press is angry because she refuses to take questions. She will wind up a much weaker candidate than had she got the nod in 2008.

Liberals make up about a quarter of the US electorate, and conservatives about a third. The remainder are the moderates. They have been throwing their lot with the Democrats, but due to the absolutely tragic performance by the Democrats over the last six years that is changing, especially as Democrats continue to force Big Brother legislation at the state level that strips liberties and leaves a bad taste when all is said and done. The Republicans should be able to capitalize on this, but the piss poor performance of Congress since they took control isn't getting anyone excited.

The US economy sucks, regardless of the made up figures our government releases. This will force change. I'll make this prediction that when all is said and done that the Republicans will win the White House, and that control of Congress will be split.

None of that really matters as the Liberals have come up with a show stopping strategy to push their agendas on a state by state basis. Using virtually unlimited funds from Bloomberg, Gates, Allen, and Soros they are targeting individual states to get Liberals elected to majorities in the state Legislatures and Governorships, and also funding liberal legislative initiatives.

It's working, and their wrecking ball of outside money has just smashed it's way through my own state. The consequences to the state economy and personal freedoms are tragic, and they wasted no time steamrolling legislation against their political enemies using "emergency" processes that circumvent the normal checks and balances as well as preventing the electorate from opposing the legislation through the referendum process. It's so heavy handed that even the normally non political people are taking notice.

So far, the conservatives have no answer to this strategy, as we can't keep up with Bilderberg spending, and the media refuses to give us equal coverage.

In the grand scheme of things, the liberals are selling out the rest of us to be peasants, so they can have slightly elevated positions as the prison guards for the Builderbergs of the world.

Thank you for your insightful conservative take on the political processes at play in the lead up to the 2016 Presidential election. We can both agree that Trump is a clown, albeit a wealthy clown who can afford to distract and diffuse support from the conservative cause. You have yet to explain how Mittens is blocking Hilary's quest for the White House if Mittens is a lame duck candidate who is unlikely to "get the nod", (presumably) by the GOP.

    1. Being estimated as likely to " do a pretty good job", is meaningless if Mittens does not actually get "the job".. Mittens has to actually defeat all of the other GOP nominees before he gets a chance to "block" Clinton with a winning Presidential candidacy of his own.

    2. Romney is not competing against Obama....he is competing against candidates from his own party and from the Democrats. If the Republicans are merely relying for victory on the electorate's disillusionment with the Obama legacy, and the electorate's perceived fears and anxieties about Hilary and a Democratic Party presidency, then the Republican party is screwed before the contest gets started.

The Republican party has to offer the American electorate a credible alternative to Hilary and the Democrats, particularly to moderates and swinging voters. Thus far, at least in the last couple of presidential election cycles, voters haven't been convinced of the Republican vision for a Republican presidency. Trotting out the usual suspects in the political conspiracy theory hall of shame/fame is a red herring: The conservatives must sell their own vision for their presidential candidate, and convince the electorate to buy it....but I suspect that the Republicans will again, rely heavily on a negative attack campaign, with the risk of losing, yet again.

    Edit:

Far be it for me to be pernickety, but if there is a "big smear on the left side of your front objective " it must be obscuring my eyeballs from having a left sided view (of reality); My right sided view of the world being unimpeded. Would that not be so??? or are you just smearing your metaphors/antagonists? ;)

I never said he was blocking Hillary from being President - you cooked that up in your own mind. Hillary, however, is well on the way to blocking herself.

Nobody else in the race has any experience either, but we voters need to decide for ourselves who can actually "do a pretty good job". My assessment was based on his previous accomplishments. I'm not pushing Romney because having run and lost twice he isn't going to be successful on a third try. I do see him as a viable Vice President.

Since you are hung up on Hillary, please let me know what you think her accomplishments have been as a Senator and Secretary of State. Her primary credentials so far seem to be being a Democrat and a female.

With 25% of Americans identifying as liberal, and 33% identifying as conservative that leaves 42% as moderates. The winning candidate must convince a majority of the moderates. The reality is that the last six years have been awful, and so the moderates are currently leaning to the right. See the Republicans taking the House and Senate during the last election as evidence.

In addition, it is very rare for the President of one party to be succeeded by the same party. Bush 1 succeeded Reagan, but only served one term. Had Obama been as successful as Reagan, then Hillary (or whoever gets the Democrat nod) would have a much better chance.

3M-TA3. I think you missed chelloveck's point. His point was not that Hilary was so great

His point was that if the Republican party cannot offer a viable candidate with a clear vision for the future then the election will go to silly Hillary and her lying minions

The Republicans need a strong united message that isn't the same old party line in order to convince the moderates to vote republic ticket
