The best President by far in my lifetime. Going from Carter to Reagan was like getting filet mignon after being force fed bologna. After Reagan came cube steak, pork sausage, hamburger, and finally mystery meat with bits of gristle and fur. Sure hope the next round isn't fish sticks - I'm ready for another big ole steak. Got a feeling it's going to be guvmint cheese...

 

I understand that folk have the liberty in some respects to abuse their own bodies with pretty much whichever poison they choose to take, and I agree that however, those who accepted such gifts...(if indeed they were actual gifts and not just advertising endorsement bullsh!t), may have had some cause to reconsider the wisdom of their acceptance many years later, when they were gasping for air in the terminal stages of cancer or emphysema.

I am quite sure that Ronnie did quite well out of shilling for big tobacco, a product that the tobacco companies have publicly denied to the bitter end, is harmful to human health.

Yes, as adults, Ronnie's friends may have consented....but was it informed consent?

Evidently that argument doesn't tend to apply to the bodily autonomy of women when they exercise the choice to terminate a pregnancy. (Roe vs Wade Roe v. Wade - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) ...at least as far as some legislators are concerned.

 

We're not going back down this road. Medical science can't even deside if an egg is good for you or bad for you, and even mother's milk can harm you is large enough quantities. The effects of tobacco are not debatable with me, I used to smoke, and changed my ways. I will not debate the marketing campaign of a legal product, either.
Where I take umbrage, is where you disrespect a man who has earned my respect. I did not fear for my nation with him at the helm, nor did I EVER doubt his love for his country or countrymen. The same can not be said of the current office holder, nor can I call him a leader of anything but the welfare line.

 

And I'd like to add that the ad in question of Ronald Reagan gifting cigarettes was from 1949, when he was a card carrying Democrat.
