ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Interactions with moose are not an uncommon scene around Alaska, but when the big ungulates find an interest in groceries, Alaskans just can’t help but whip out their phones.

That was the scene Feb. 10 when an Anchorage woman found herself caught between her grocery cart full of food and a hungry bull moose in a Costco parking lot after a grocery run.

Amber Rotar was the woman trying to shoo the moose away and decided once it became clear he wasn’t budging, she’d whip her phone camera out — with the cart and her car between them, of course.

“Thankfully, I didn’t have my kids, so it’s like, I don’t have to worry about not having my children trampled,” Rotar said. “But no, I just tried not to aggravate him.”

Damn things are like cockroaches here in the winter. One of them tore down my NVIS antenna last week, when jumping over my fence.

I’ve had some Greene’s in my day, but I think it was always late at night after the bar.

 

Hiked all the way to the top back in '82. Sweating profusely. It was a comfortable air temperature, but the humidity was a killer. Especially to a couple of 20-somethings from the upper wet coast.
