I posted this image yesterday before I heard the Pope's missive on respecting religion. Special pleading for exempting religion (or indeed non religion) from parody, satire, lampooning, ridicule, irreverence, and or criticism would seem to indicate that he doesn't understand that the world is no longer in the Middle Ages. I might possibly understand it if he were to advocate against ridiculing Chuck Norris...who wants to be dodging death threats from nutty Norris aficionados??

Pope Frank the 1st thinks that committing a criminal act (common assault by inflicting actual bodily harm) is understandable, but making fun of religion is not. A bizarre kind of moral guidance from the leader of the most populous faith on Earth.
