I have a different reflex problem. They're missing. Injuries in the Marine Corps left me with zero reflexes in one knee. One day at sick call this became frustrating to a couple Navy Corpsmen who insisted on taking turns pounding on my knee with the little hammer after I told them about my injury. A Navy Chief had overheard our conversation and stepped in to save me. He took the little hammer in one hand and very gently nudged the back of my calf with the other as he struck the knee. "There it is" He said as he gave the two Corpsmen a look that only a Chief Petty Officer can give, set the hammer down on the table and walked out without another word.

 

I was getting a Navy physical, and the Corpsman starts checking my blood pressure. He pumps, pumps some more. Can't find it. He has an older guy check. He too can't seem to find my BP. He asks me, "Are you sure you're alive?" I says, "Last I knew, I was." I've had it happen many times in the decades since. I have very deep veins. Getting a blood draw is always an adventure too.
