They use a $10,000 missile to shoot down and destroy a balloon that could be take out with a stone and a sling shot.

 

Now we have a debris field seven miles long. Probably not a lot of Intel to recover.

 

The China balloon passed directly over my house, and a neighbor and I happened to be watching when they shot it down. The rig on the bottom came loose and went straight down, the deflated balloon took around 3-5 minutes. We had a nice airshow as they circled it an hour before firing the shot with a bunch of low level passes, and a high speed low altitude pass several minutes after it was down (victory lap?).

 

You'd think we would have tried to bring it down slow enough to be able to see exactly what was onboard.

 

One would have thought we'd have brought it down as soon as it entered US airspace
