not sure what "text-speak" is, understand "hashtag" but never used that. since i been on here i've done alot of typing in last few days, and haven't done that much in the past few years. my grammar skills are weak honestly, but i do proofread just please bear with me.

 

seawolf, i'm not being flippant to you i passed English in HS a C+ but other skills like algebra and German ( in HS ) have atrophied with time. you didn't complain to me i just read your post and agree with you. i'm an avid reader, writing is a bit rougher around the edges.

No worries. I'm an old curmudgeon who bemoans what I see as a horrendous level of bad English on the internet in general, and most "social media" especially. I am well read, tested at a college level in 8th grade. But in speaking, people think I'm just a " country bumpkin". As a dyed-in-the-wool Southerner, I usually don't bother to correct them. I am a fair writer, as I can take my time and choose my words. In my IT career I became my team's "documentation guru", as most programmers hate documentation. Being in the Florida Department Of Education we had to set an example. So I do tend to come off as a bit of an "English Nazi".

 

One of my pet peeves. "Alot" ... not a word.
