I remember Pete, who had a stutter, but didn't let it slow him down.

Back when I was a kid we had a whole barnyard full of chickens. Somehow or other we ended up with a little white Banty rooster. He was a mean little shit, always running up at you trying to flog ya. Well one day while feeding the horses he came at me and I'd had enough. I flipped that pitchfork around and Mark McGwired that damn rooster with all I had. Hit him square in the head and he rolled across the corral and didn't move. Well after a bit I picked him up and put him in the barn. Never moved, just blinked his eyes every so often. Figured I was gonna get my ass whupped if Dad found out so I made a little nest with a water dish and a handful of feed in the middle of the hay stack. 3 days that rooster never moved. Was really starting to sweat it when on the 4th day I went out to feed and he was with the other chickens. Looked pretty normal, but he never chased another living thing for the rest of his life..

Dad had us raising chickens when I was young. That rooster would spur at me when I fed them. I kept telling him one day he will flavor a pot of dumplings. And one fine day, he did. I was ready when Dad told me to get him and wring his neck. The Chicken&Dumplings tasted mighty good!
