English is complicated and often inconsistent...especially pronunciation...data is just one word with a common meaning (though capitalising it would mean that one was referring to a fictional character in Star Trek), just pronounced differently depending on where one learned their spoken English...data may be pronounced as d(ay)ta as in American English, or d(ah)ta as in British English... with other nationalities murdering the pronunciation of the word in their own quaint inimitably native ways.

 

I was having a really nice day today, until about 10:30 when I realized it wasn't Friday.
