That was just a quick look for State restrictions on deer hunting, since that seems to be a politicians favorite snarky 2A comment. Federal restrictions on my 153,439 acre hunting area (with 14 miles of beach ) are muzzle loading rifles and shotguns only. I can use muzzle loaders, and shotgun with slugs or buckshot on coyotes, with tighter shot restrictions on small game and waterfowl. Can't use a Savage Model 24F even with no .22 ammo in my possession. (I've been trying to find a loophole for this one for three decades) No rim-fire or center-fire rifles at all for any hunting aboard base. There are county specific caliber restrictions for hunting all game across North Carolina. These regulations can usually be tracked to a hunting accident where a bullet ended up in a local community, or resident.

My solution was to build something that fit these rules while being ergonomic. The AR50ML. It's been inspected by the Game Warden and they know it's just me when they get calls about some old guy with a heavy barrel AR in the woods. My next addition will be a 30 round magazine body, sealed with epoxy on the follower end, flatten the base plate tab for easier removal and put a couple Power Bars or a bag of Jelly beans inside. Maybe some deer jerky.

 

Often when Dad, Mom and I took the mullet boat to the coast, I rode in the back of the Toyota pickup truck. No seat, no belts.

 

Can you use a 30-50 caliber PCP airgun ??
Some of those 50 cal pcp guns are lobbing rounds out a half mile ,,, with some serious elevation tho .

 

Pretty close to my experience, and that's just from my in-laws. I was
called a "white devil" by two old ladies in town but mostly people call me
Sir or Mister. It's a Southern thing.

 

Went camping with the family when I was in high school. There wasn't room in the cab of the pickup, and something had to hold that mattress (or something - all I remember is it kept me up off the metal truck bed) down in the front of the pickup bed. Yeah, I slept most of the way to the lake. Got a pretty good sunburn too.
