Motivational Poster Thread (warning content)

We spent a whole afternoon in Jacksonville, NC looking for a place called "Palace Hardware". Everybody we asked recommended them. We couldn't find them in the phone book. (This was 1979) We eventually found a garage that had a complete Chrysler driveshaft yoke with the bolts we needed.

A week later I happened to drive down Gum Branch Road, and busted up laughing when I saw Pal's Hardware. This was the mysterious Palace Hardware of local lore.

I thought I had run into the children of the barely literate twenty years later when I bought a Best recliner. The kid that loaded it in my truck called it a "Beast" recliner.
I figured he was using the same phonetics as the "Pal S Hardware" folks. It ws another fifteen years before I learned that this model of Best recliner is known as the Beast.
