I have had two possums enter my home, at a property I rented many years back. The first came up through a hole for my washer, late at night. Not wanting to freak the neighbors with a gunshot, I went after him with a very sharp replica Katana. Caught him in the kitchen, trying to get back to the bedrooms. Let me tell ya, two half-possums smell a lot worse than a whole possum! I bagged him and sent him out in the garbage.
Second one came up the same way. This time I used a .22 rifle with the primer-only Super Colibri load, right between the eyes pointblank! He shook his head and ran down the hole. Found him dead days later, under the trailer. Possums have wicked saw-like teeth. I pity the dog that tangles with one. Foul "Rats From Hell"!
I can't tolerate them.

 

Back in the mid 80s ,, late one night of drinking,, my buddy was at the house with his Doberman,,, he let it go outside ,,, it got out in the carport ,, and went to growling and raising hell ,,, my buddy goes out ,, gets his dog back in the house . Then he walks in carrying a possum by the tail ,, said his dog killed it ,, I said get that thing out of here . He took it out , laid it down,,, came back in the house ,,, went back out a few minutes later and it was gone . I said you're lucky it didn't wake up while you were holding it ,,, them teeth would slice you open.
