Closest I ever came to living in a stump was a burned out one right at the side of the road. The roots had actually burned out under the edge of the gravel road, but snow was piled in a nice parapet at the edge. It was big enough for three or four of us kids to sit in comfortably in the winter. We could even have a fire inside. The perfect spot to throw snowballs at passing school busses. We never gave any thought to the fact that a car or truck might run off the icy road there. It was great fun.
