Motivational Poster Thread (warning content)

A friend of mine took a job bartending at a nice Irish pub in Portland, OR for a few years back in the day.

On his first day, the owner told him to be aware that some of the older customers were from the Old Country, might have some peculiar ways, and were solidly set on them, so my friend should always humor them regardless the request seemed odd--or slightly illegal.

That evening, an older fellow came in and, in a thick Irish accent, ordered three ouiskeys.

My buddy said "Sure, but I'm a very good bartender and we're not busy. I can top you up when you need it."

Replied the older fellow: " Ay, lad, but it's for me brothers. When I made the crossing, I swore I would never drink alone, but would always have one with them, wherever I ended up."

Over the next year, he and my buddy became good friends. My buddy got to know all the old fellow's stories and jokes and felt almost like a member of the family. He knew the names of all the relatives in the Old Country, from the oldest to the newest newborn.

Well, one day the old fellow came in, looking very hang-dog. Almost falling onto his barstool, he ordered TWO ouiskeys as tears ran down his cheeks.

"What?" said my friend " Which of your brothers was it?"

"Ah, me lad," said the old fellow sadly, "it's me brothers are fine. It's me doctor's the problem. He says I'm to stop drinking!"

 

Well, there goes Obama’s only accomplishment.
