HA! There's a road between Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point that is
now off-limits because of that exact thing. A small convoy of five ton
trucks pulled onto the shoulder because they were lost. Got all the
wheels on one side into the ditch and couldn't get out. They could go
along in the ditch. They did, and destroyed about half a mile of the
shoulder before giving up. After that multi-truck extraction the whole
road was made off-limits to tactical vehicles.

 

TPTB only allow what they desire seen. If they do not allow it, they are probably going to do something bad.

 

In the military barracks it made it easy to clean, to pass the newspaper around, or toss a roll of shit paper to the far end.
The H barracks I lived in aboard Camp Lejeune looked like this.


There's a National Historic Building aboard Camp Johnson that has this back to back layout. The wall between the rows of toilets is a good bit wider. Wide enough to sleep on top of. Since it was the only heated building in the 200 area of Camp Johnson, and the whole area is a ghost town after the Staff NCO Club closes, the two man roving patrol would post one member at a window while the other took a nap atop the wall. I always wondered how nobody fell in a toilet getting up, or rolling over.
