I worked at a local tire shop in Okinawa that did tires on split rims that size. Never used that technique to seat a bead. We removed and installed with hammers and bars. Any questionable rims got mounted on the axle backwards and the air hose was attached from inside the rim.

It was a two man team and we both had small children at home that we wanted to watch grow up. We were very respectful of split rims.

 

I did the split rims on my truck all the time I just slid it under the truck to initially fill it.
If you've cleaned the ring and rim thoroughly inspecting it for flaws you should have no trouble.
Haste is what kills.

Mmmm, nope. I failed the Morse Code test in Boot Camp. That's how I ended up doing odd jobs for 20 years.

 

The "?" indicates I don't know...not the character "?"

Eta...although the second ? actually IS ? Lol

 

The top one, well, I couldn't find it. But in truth, I think they are randomly placed by a store clerk. (Or maybe a customer took the last did off the top row?)

 

Just as long as nobody hears any dog whistles. It's syrup and pancakes for cryin' out loud, Mrs. Butterworth's syrup and pancakes were on my breakfast table for decades. I never thought there was anything racist about breakfast food, I didn't start singing Song of the South or whistle Dixie. I just enjoyed my pancakes and syrup.
