@DKR, I believe you're onto something. Gasoline could do it. I've never considered gasoline for doing this, maybe with good reason.

I use just a squirt of ether inside the tire and then blow a flame at the rim edge with aerosol can from well beyond the tire. I've never done it on a tire that wasn't either mounted horizontally on a tire machine or inside a tire cage.


We have a Cheetah bead seater now. Young guys always yell "FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!!" before they seat a bead. I'm unimpressed
by the little blast of air, but because of them, I say "fire in the hole." three times under my breath before I set off airbags that rattle the building.

 

Looks like an easy way to get killed. Did you notice the outer metal ring go flying? Those split rings are dangerous!
