I've actually got some of that in the cabinet ,,, bought a few cans to try it out . I've got one of those electric pressure cooker pots ,, I just call it a magic pot ,,, anyway ,, I threw some dry beans in the pot one day ,, didn't have any seasoning meat for the beans ,, dumped a can of that bacon soup in it ,,, would have been better with some fatback ,, but , at least it added a little flavor to the beans …

 

Try smoked sausage cut up,Or Tasso,Or Andouille sausage

Just a little out of practice there.

I miss the SNAP! sound of somebody really trying for that long cast from the pier... with the bail on their spinning reel. . They get their bait way out there without being hindered in flight by an attached fishing line.

 

We were surf fishing on Sandy Hook a long time ago. The trip stands out because my father set a record heaving a 4 oz pyramid sinker at least 100 yards using a Penn reel on a home made bamboo rod. At least I thought is was a record until I looked over and Pop was trying to unsnarl a bird's nest on his reel. Then it got a bit odd, I noticed he was fighting with it, the rod tip was jerking around, so looked at where the line was leading and LO!! there was a gull on it. Apparently, the cast went pretty close to the gull and got snagged, the sinker never noticed it and kept on going. He mumbled something about death if I ever told anyone, seagulls are a protected species, there's no open season for snagging.
