Reminds me of a true Eastern NC story. In the 1980's a local weather forecaster used to frequent the park and go for long walks. A couple local guys who had gone to school with him took the wheels off his truck and put them in their pickup. When he came back to find his truck without wheels they showed up and told him they'd chased down the thieves and got his wheels back. They put them back on his truck for $20.00.

 

Looks like Monday.

 

I once had that happen with my car, a 1971 AMC Javelin. Just as a cop car passed in the other direction. They helped me get it remounted. Nice fellers.

 

Got gas for cars and an 800.00 phone?

 

Federal govt caused both thru misguided policy decisions.

 

Here's another NC Rim story ,, told to me by my boss in '79 ,,, he said a buddy of his had saved up and bought a set tires and rims for his car . A few day's later , the guy get's up to go to work ,, comes out and his car is on blocks , and his tires are on his neighbors car . The guy raises hell , jacks the guys car up and takes his tires back . A few days later , the same thing happens , he comes out and his tires are on his neighbors car . The guy calls the cops to let them know what's going on . The cops show up , the neighbor said they are his tires , and that the original owner is lying . So the guy starts taking the tires off , when he gets the 1st tire off , the neighbor tells the cop that his name is engraved on the inside of the rim ,, sure enough ,, the neighbor had engraved his name in the rims when he stole them the 2nd time . The neighbor got to keep the tires from what I was told .

 

Tires have serial numbers. If he had the receipt, the serial numbers should be on it.
