223 softpoint will blow your guts out on the ground. It's got plenty of power. Only the stupid equate it to the 9mm. It's got more EFFECTIVE use of its power than the .44 mag revolver. Even the 10" 223 has 900 ft lbs. The 9mm loads are normally a pathetic sub -400 ft lbs. a 223 sp, with 2200+ fps, tears the hell out of vitals not even actually touched by the bullet itself. Just pop some feral dogs in the chest, cut them open and LOOK at the 2-3" wide pattern of destuction in their lungs, liver, spleen. MOre power than that is wasted, and that's what the 308 does, it wastes resources that you aint GOT to spare, (ie, carrying the gun and ammo, doing without concealment and sound suppressor, without the ability to use the gun one handed, etc. See, rambos, the reality of survival and combat is you end up needing to use a sapling as a crutch, help a loved one walk, carry an infant, etc. It's not all about your carrying nothing but your M60, for a few minutes.

You must not have been around the rural areas of the mid west or north west much, hell we shoot running deer at those ranges on a reagular basis and they are often runninf into, out of or through cover and thats with 30- 06s, and several other .30 cals along with the .270 and some others, though not likely with a .223.
The other flaw in his theory is that he keeps talking about matches out to 600 yards with an AR. What he doesn't tell all of us is that those guys are using large VLD rounds that won't fit in a mag, not standard combat ammunition. I can also tell you that the much venerated soft point ammo he keeps talking about has a poor ballistic coefficient due to the malformation of the nose lead caused by recoil damage in the magazine and while feeding. He ain't going to get 600 yard shots with a bullet that is deformed. This guy is an example of some one who got a little information and became dangerous with it. Probably some punk that busted out of basic training and now thinks he knows more than the world combined.

Well, while not feeding the troll is a good idea I figured it was at least important to correct some of the info he was posting and point out some of the flaws in some of his comparisons and plans and such simply so that folks comeing here for info didnt wind up reading his statments and take them as fact then wind up being screwed because of it. Besides its kind of amuseing to play with little minds.
