We have NOT heard from the Ozone Hole People at the South Pole.dang near forever... Maybe they all Froze to death? Someone should check up on them...
Last credible thing I saw about the ozone hole https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2017/warm-air-helped-make-2017-ozone-hole-smallest-since-1988
The good news is when the hole in the ozone was at its largest no increase of UV radiation was detected in inhabited regions.
The magnetic poles shifting will cool the planet. I think that is what you prepare for. Perhaps move to a warmer climate or invest in cold weather gear. I seem to recall there was a movie trailer about this issue with polar bears in battle armor and people riding them...
I covered all of this with my original post with the extensive research done by SuspiciousObservers, which is included in the video playlist (you may have missed it). That's the best video of the bunch. All explained nicely, with links and verified, peer reviewed research. It also covers the mainstream media hype and down-play of the issue, too. There's a lot of ignorance out there, for sure. It's not "any minute to 2000 years" according to the actual evidence, more like "X years to about 80 years, my best guess 20 to 30". The "not much" in seismic activity is completely bogus, too (and also explicitly covered). As for mass extinctions, that's not even worth covering because like you said, not much we can do about it -but we deserve to be informed properly, which is why I linked this research.
Exponential rate. Exponential growth - Wikipedia If this happens in our lifetime, at a 5% or 10% shield capacity for 'X' months or years (let's say about 5 years or so at final phase of flip) you can go outside in your skivvies if you like and report the findings. It also might not happen at all. But it's good to know what the science says, if it does.
There have been so many pole flips and almost none of them happen in conjunction with a mass extinction. But if it allows mediocre solar storms to severly damage or destroy the power grid that will be bad for humans.
Yep doesn't make for a good doomsday movie https://debunkingdoomsday.quora.com...from-a-magnetic-pole-shift-in-the-near-future
So, what exactly are you arguing? Nothing will happen to you at all and you don't need any SPF6000 handy during a solar grand minimum and polar reversal? Okay, you win. Now, explain to me the part where these people thousands of years ago had electricity and nuclear facilities dotting the countryside.
No one can say for sure. The only instruments we had recording past flips were rocks. Rocks are really good fpr record for a really long span of time but they don't offer much resolution showing precisely what happened leading up to, during and how long it took the magnetic reversal to happen. Suspicious observers were called lunatics when they said dark matter didn't exist, when they started trying to predict earth quakes, saying that space weather can effect human health for earth bound people and electric universe theory. It's looking really good for them on at least 3 of those. And now they are suggesting magnetic pole reversal could be starting. From 1590 till about 1900 the poles barely moved now the north pole is moving rapidly across the artic circle with rapidly weakening magnetic field. I would call nearly 430 years of observation pretty decent, the only other scientific studies coming close to that are sun spot observations. The last 30 years something definitely changed, something not seen in the past 400 previous years.
I have to wonder about the "430" years since the north mag pole was not located physically until 1831, then (re) located in a different spot in 1906. It is not questioned that it moves, and has done so, and I can't discount the record in the rocks of flips. How it has been determined that a flip is imminent is over my head, right up there with Hawkings speculation about what was before the Big Bang. He may be right, and so may these theorists thinking up what is going to (or may) happen if a flip occurs. Don't let those thoughts and theories get you to wringing your hands, there are better and more likely things to prepare for than sky is falling scenarios.
Don't think this changes much besides increased likely hood of solar storms crippling the power grid. Maybe a few more earthquakes for earthquake prone areas. More severe hurricanes and typhoons due to solar energy penetrating the atmosphere.
The reason this is bad for humans and nobody else is that the reversal of the magnetic field would allow for the solar wind to pass through our atmosphere more easily. This would affect the power grid and small things like a solar flare would cause massive power outages. The power outage of 2003 happened WITH the shield up. I am no specialist in this field but if the power is out for a week people start dying. In Los Angeles I lost power for 2 weeks and people freaked. It was a very small area but neighbors moved in with relatives and rented places out of the area. Kids played outside. I got caught up on a bunch of books I had been meaning to read. It was great. The way life should be.
You answered your own question in earlier post "But it's good to know what the science says" The bulk of the science says it is not a civilization ending thing. The usual Doom Peddlers cherry pick to say and more importantly sell the opposite. What exactly would you suggest be done about those Nuke Reactors and Electricity? My suggestion would be to harden and shield the generation and grids, but that should be done anyway as Pole Shift or not they are vulnerable.
You're reading the wrong science. Sorry. Exactly. And nuclear reactors are NOT built to be off grid for long periods during societal decay, too. Sure, @Thunder5Ranch I see your point about remaining positive and buying into the "science" that claims we're never going to die from anything terrible ever. But, I like to think I am a realist. Granted, I prepped for 2012 which does nothing at all to strengthen my case, but I would rather be prepared than to be blind and helpless. I know there's nothing we can do to stop a CME or major earthquake, or a series of them. I also know there are alarmists out there and "Doom Peddlers" as you call them -but that's not what we're trying to accomplish, here. I would appreciate it if we didn't lump everybody together into the same crazy alarmist category. There's real science behind this, and I am not full of horse manure. Maybe it's best to either prepare as best as you can and become as informed as possible, OR just keep on going like everything is fine. No skin off my back. From the article I keep linking: "Though a magnetic reversal is a major planet-wide event driven by convection in Earth’s iron core, there are no documented catastrophes associated with past reversals, despite much searching in the geologic and biologic record. Today, however, such a reversal could potentially wreak havoc with our electrical grid, generating currents that might take it down."
Yes, I am guilty of this. I remember posting about how dark matter is bogus years back on one of Ben's videos and one or two people had to point at me and say that I was denouncing all the "scientific study" which proves I am wrong, so my argument is invalid. I just laughed. I love it when the actual process of science vindicates those with common sense.
My physics teacher taught us that unless you can prove it yourself it is still up for debate. Everything else is just hearsay and hearsay will have you thinking that the earth is flat and the center of the universe and the sun rotates around us. But seriously, how do you know what is true unless YOU can prove it yourself?
