Industrial strength UV water purifier

The UV might not kill it but the Ozone it makes sure will.

I went over it in earlier posts.
It will rapidly make a large amount of clean water ready to drink in a few minutes.
This wave length of UV turns oxygen in the water into ozone.
I went over trubrity and UV transmission through water in another post.

 

Running it darn near full power, 6 amps through the tube. Its making ozone for sure.
Hooking up 240v power to the 208v taps pushes 7.7 amps through the tube.


Is it safe?
It kills any bugs that fly near it, if that's any indication...

 

I got another very low hours tube.
So I took them all wrapped each one individually in an old sock, wrapped the socks with bubble wrap and put them all in a cheap plastic Lowes tool box for safe keeping.
Since I will be making my own water soon.
In another post I figured rain water collected from my roof could be worth 1 to 2Mwh worth of power to bring water to the surface.

 

Got 4 more of these tubes. My cheap lowes tool box is almost full.

Soon here I am going to attempt to build a UV ballast transformer manual soft starter. And scrounge for parts to build a self contained "pump through" UV purification unit that uses these tubes.
Right now my working idea is take my giant 12'' long pyrex test tube, put a bulb in it, make a float for it and power it up and just let the rig float on top of the water with the over sized test tube sticking down. With the power source remotely wired in of course.

 

I picked up 3 or 4 more of these tubes since last post.
I also got the correct quartz tube for these lamps.

 

Now I just have to build a reactor chamber.

 

A glass jar full of water in the sun? One gallon glass container repurposed. Reminds me of that sun tea I used to make, Tasty stuff.

 

This is more like the suns rays before it goes through earth's protective atmosphere. But with out as many x-rays or any ionized helium.
